In 1986, the Columbus (OH) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. started a scholarship fund with modest ideas and goals.

The initial goal was simple: to fiscally support one graduating male senior from the Columbus Public Schools as a first time freshman entering college. The vehicle to achieve this goal resulted in the development of the Columbus Kappa Scholarship Fund.

In 1998, the Columbus Kappa Scholarship Fund was renamed the Kenneth L. Howard Endowed Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was re-named after an esteemed former member of the Columbus (OH) Alumni Chapter.

Today, the Kenneth L. Howard Endowed Scholarship Fund has evolved to support the area's young men, young ladies, first-time college students, continuing college students at either The Ohio State University or Ohio University and our reach has expanded to include students from the entire greater Columbus metropolitan area. Our scholars have attended a plethora of metropolitan Columbus' charter, private, public, suburban and urban city schools and our scholars enroll and attend institutions of higher education nationwide.
